Attention, bakers of all ages! The Palm Beach Post's annual Holiday Cookie Contest is officially open, and House of Sweets is an offical cookie drop off location. Enter, and you can win $100 or a cookbook, and have your photo and cookie recipe printed in The Post.
Drop-off times: Nov. 30, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; Dec. 1, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Bakers who enter get a free baker's dozen set of beautiful cookie recipe cards of past winning entries (first come, first served, while supplies last).
Here's how it works: You'll need to bake a dozen each of your cookies and get them to one of the drop-off points Friday, Nov. 30, or Saturday, Dec. 1.
Every cookie is tasted and judged, and gets a fair shot at the big prizes.
There are two age groups: Adults and Juniors, and prizes for best-tasting and best-looking cookies in each group.
So dust off your pans, pull out your recipes and start your ovens! Good luck to all!
::Cookie Contest Rules::
Contest is open to all nonprofessional bakers.
Bakers under 17 years old will be in the Junior category and must state their age.
Enter as many different kinds of cookies as you like. They do not have to be original, but if they're from a printed source, the origin must be given if you know it, for copyright purposes.
Bake one dozen of each type of cookie you enter. Pack them in a disposable, airtight container and secure the lid. Sorry, but no containers will be returned. (Containers are not part of the judging. Fragile cookies should be packed carefully; judges are not responsible for broken cookies.)
Fill out the form at right for each cookie entered (it can be photocopied or downloaded from www.palmbeachpost.com/food) and tape it to the top of your disposable container.
Please include a daytime contact phone number.
Deliver your cookies on Nov. 30 or Dec. 1. Final deadline for all entries is 2 p.m., Dec. 1.
Actual judging will take place Dec. 1, at The Post's main office in West Palm Beach. Sorry, judging is not open to the public.
Winners will be notified by 5 p.m., Dec. 3, and may be required to come in for a photograph.
